About Michelle

Hello and Welcome to my page,

I am Michelle, a registered Therapeutic Arts Counsellor/Art Therapist that offers a holistic framework for individuals and the community.

I am a skilled and compassionate counsellor who specialises in holding space while you travel the path of "Deep Looking" into your experiences, and the causes of your actions, beliefs and behaviours through a creative lens. To unlock your potential and discover what you value and form a plan of action to access and achieve wellbeing in mind, body and spirt.

I believe in the power of play as it helps to unlock hidden potentials, and using the creative arts helps to discover parts of yourself in a nonverbal way, which is less traumatising for the whole-body system.

I hold a Master's of Therapeutic Arts Practice at MIECAT, an Advanced Diploma of Therapeutic Arts in Counselling, and a Diploma of Community Service and I am a practising level 4 member of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) and the Australian, New Zealand and Asian Creative Arts Therapies Association (ANZACATA).

I hold both a National Police Check, and a valid Working with Children check as well as a NDIS Worker Screening ID.

I currently work as a contractor with ONPSYCH in schools with NDIS participants, and in private practice with children and adults of all ages in the community.

I have been working in schools for over 15 years, with primary and secondary students, and I also work with local community members running small fortnightly groups in various locations across the Mornington Peninsula and one on one support.

I can guide you to create a toolkit to take on your journey, using tools and strategies that include, creative arts materials, journalling, poetry, being outside in nature, using outside landscapes as much as possible, as well as other creative modalities such as mindfulness, narrative therapy, gestalt, movement, and other creative expressions through a person centred and trauma informed approach.

What Does a Session Look Like?

A session could be walking and talking outside, setting up in the school setting or in the home, or community. Using the creative arts to explore your inner canvas with arts-based activities.                         "Your potential is only a brushstroke away"

What is Therapeutic Arts Counselling?

Art Therapy Counselling combines the creative process of making art with psychological theory and human experience within a therapeutic relationship.

Art Therapy is used to explore and map out things that you would like to experience, it can help to make goals clearer and outlines the next step on your journey. Working in a creative way helps to bypass the thinking brain and discover new ideas of different ways of being in the world.

We may explore with a variety of different techniques in a session depending on your needs, this could include a sensory approach with different art materials, including working outside with nature, movement, journalling, poems, narrative and other modalities.

As a Therapeutic Counsellor I am here to support you in whatever you bring to the session. I offer a safe, nonjudgmental space for you to relax and feel comfortable while uncovering your creative flow. I will work alongside you to overcome difficult emotions in a self-compassionate and person-centered way.

Acknowledge to country:

I acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders as the first Australians and recognize their unique relationship with the land and water. I also recognize that the Mornington Peninsula is home to the Boon Wurrung/Bunurong members of the Kulin Nation, where they have lived for thousands of years and have traditional connections and responsibilities for the land we walk on.

I pay my respects to all Elders, past and present.

Always was Always will be.
